We live in a hurricane area. We have been hit in the past and we will be hit in the future - it is inevitable. With the proper precautions the damage can be minimized but if you are not around all you can do is cross your fingers and hope you don't suffer too much destruction.
If you have a friend on the island maybe you can persuade them to put up your shutters after they have secured their own property, or you can take some time off work, fly down and do it yourself. A better alternative is to let us be your friend on the island, and do it for you.
